Faculty Spotlight: Music Teacher Jesse Myers

Jesse Myers' Glass Half Full Concert

Watch HNA piano instructor Jesse Myers perform Philip Glass’ Piano Etude No. 6. Myers has taught piano at Holy Names Academy for 12 years, and is an invaluable member of the school’s musical training program. We are always inspired by student accomplishments, but we are equally delighted when faculty and staff showcase their professional expertise. Though Myers primarily teaches piano, he also freelances as a performer, and was recently inspired to record a live concert of Philip Glass music and include a light show for audience members.

Myers received his Bachelor of Music from Bowling Green State University before moving to Seattle to get his Masters of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Washington.

Myers cites the diversity of HNA students’ musical interests as a favorite part of teaching. While his home library features mostly classical music, Myers says he “learns a lot from HNA students, especially when it comes to what is ‘in.’ He says that his lessons are reciprocal in nature, that he is learning just as much from our students as they learn from him.
