The DEIJB Committee is a space where adult scholars at Holy Names Academy, who are interested in racial and social justice work, are able to explore topics with people who hold different, even conflicting, perspectives. By centering work on power and privilege, brave spaces, listening to understand rather than respond, and restorative justice techniques, scholars are able to develop relationships based on integrity, empathy, generosity, and comfortability with similarities and differences.
MISSION
At the DEIJB Committee, we embrace intersectional identities, languages, traditions, and values through culturally responsive frameworks that center student narratives by providing advocacy, education, and programming for our youth and adult scholars.
We advocate for the success of underrepresented students, staff, faculty and administration by creating a sense of belonging that validates marginalized identities; facilitating spaces that increase awareness around cultural diversity, social inequality, and systems of oppression; and engaging in the school’s education equity work.
