BEYOND THE CLASSROOM AT HNA

Cultural Immersion & Service Trips

At Holy Names Academy, we believe in providing opportunities for our students to become global citizens. Young women at HNA travel the world and immerse themselves in different cultures, languages, and service opportunities.

Cultural-Immersion Trips

We annually offer several international trips for students to immerse themselves in a new culture over the course of 7-10 days. Thanks to the extensive network of fellow SNJM, Catholic, and/or all-girls schools, students are able to stay with host families, experience a "day in the life" at local schools, and develop lifelong friendships with peers from around the world! In the past, we have led trips to China, Costa Rica, Italy, and Japan. HNA music and theater students also have opportunities for trips that combine exciting destinations with rare performance opportunities, such as New York (Carnegie Hall) or Rome (St. Peter’s Basilica).

Language-Immersion Trips

Immersion is one of the best ways to improve language skills, gain true cultural appreciation, and learn to see the world from a new perspective. Each year, the International Languages Department offers 8–12-day language immersion trips. Students live with host families and might even attend high school for a few days in the country we are visiting. Visits to iconic sites, world-class museums, historical monuments, or nature reserves are always on the itinerary. Below are a few of the places we have traveled:

  • Argentina
  • Costa Rica
  • France
  • Martinique
  • Mexico
  • Panama
  • Peru
  • Puerto Rico
  • Quebec City
  • Spain

Service Trips

At Holy Names Academy, students are passionate about community service and social justice. Inspired by the mission and vision of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, our school provides opportunities to serve both locally and globally.
