Multicultural Student Union & Affinity Groups

 

 

  • Holy Names currently has one Student Union and seven Affinity Groups

    • Student Union – Multicultural Student Union (MSU) – all students are invited to this space​

      • Middle Eastern Student Union is set up as an affinity space and will be opened when students request it​.

  • These youth leaders are responsible for the Dr. Martin Luther King Day Assembly; Dia De Los Muertos Ofrenda; and Heritage Week. They also share their work throughout the school through homeroom representatives and bulletin boards where they share information and resources.​

  • The 2024-25 academic year will continue facilitation skills through listening circles and restorative justice techniques for youth, such as Brave Space and Community Ethics.

  • Each group has a faculty/staff moderator who supports the student-led space with resources, critical thinking skills, and discussion of facilitation​ techniques. Moderators also work as a team to schedule student union meetings for the year and coordinate collective events and project work between affinity groups and MSU​.

MSU leads the Dr. King Day Assembly.
