HNA Junior Featured as Northwest Catholic Magazine’s Student of the Month Holy Names Academy

Elisabeth Ford ’21 is featured as a Student of the Month in the October 2019 edition of Northwest Catholic Magazine, which notes Elisabeth’s work in illustrating and co-authoring a children’s book, Little Lion, with her mother. The picture book was published by Ready Set Go Books, a project of Open Hearts Big Dreams, a non-profit that supports literacy programs in Ethiopia.

Little Lion is written in both English and Amharic, the official language of Ethiopia. Some 44% of Ethiopia’s 97 million population are age 14 or under, and Elisabeth is passionate about creating developmentally appropriate literature for this population. Thanks to programs like Open Hearts Big Dreams, young authors are able to do so. The organization also encourages authors to draw inspiration from common Ethiopian sayings and idioms to create stories that can be enjoyed and discussed by both parents and children. We are so proud Elisabeth and her mom were inspired to create Little Lion, which is available on Amazon.
