FALL PLAY: Girls in the Boat! November 7-9, 2024
On the heels of last year's blockbuster film, The Boys in the Boat, and the 2024 XXXIII Olympic Games in Paris, this year’s fall play selection is Girls in the Boat, a play inspired by the true stories of the U.S. women’s Olympic rowing team. A group of smart, fiery young women fight discrimination and prejudice to compete in the male-dominated sport of rowing. Together, they confront ridicule and overcome obstacles. The women refuse to sit on a bus and wait their turn in a battle for gender equality in a sport that makes national news and takes them all the way to the world championships. Against the rhythm of their oars, these women forge bonds and overcome disagreements in their search for greatness. Despite their diverse backgrounds and politics, they literally pull together to reach their goals in a fast-paced drama that reminds us of what we can all do if we have a common purpose. As our heroines break barriers of race and gender, their newly minted U.S. women’s rowing team goes on to become the most winning sports team in American history.

Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of one of Broadway's longest running and most successful musicals, our spring selection is CHICAGO: TEEN EDITION! In roaring twenties Chicago, chorine Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband, Amos, to take the rap... until he finds out he's been duped and turns on Roxie. Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another "Merry Murderess," Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the "American Dream": fame, fortune, and acquittal.

NEW WORKS FESTIVAL: February 6-8, 2025
HNA’s New Works Festival is an annual celebration of short works for theatre and film in which all the original creations are student-written, student-directed, student-cast, and student-acted! Everybody who auditions gets at least one part—a great way to get involved in our Theatre & Film Department.
Students can participate by:
• Writing a play, musical, or screenplay.
• Directing a play, musical, or screenplay.
• Auditioning to act in a play, musical, or film.
This year's performances will be held on:
•February 6-7, 2025. Festival performances/screenings.
• February 8, 2025. Best of the Fest, highlighting creations voted best by audiences and adjudicated by a professional panel of judges.
